Scottish Highland Beef
Natural, grass-
It’s just better for you.
About Scottish Highland Cattle.
Highland cattle are an ancient beef breed originating in the rugged Highlands and Islands of the North of Scotland. Written records date back to the 18th century and the first Highland Cattle Herd Book was published in 1885.They are a breed probably best known for their long horns and shaggy coat, but look beyond this and you have a beef animal which is extremely hardy and has a unique ability to convert poor quality feed effectively. Naturally docile, easy calving, remarkable longevity with many cows continuing to breed beyond 18 years having borne 15+ calves.

About Highland Beef.
Highland beef has been shown to be lower in fat and cholesterol than other beef breeds. Highlanders have a double layer of hair to keep warm so don’t develop a thick layer of fat under the skin. Highland beef has also been shown to be higher in iron and protein than other beef.
Our Scottish Highland Beef
All our animals are raised naturally on grass in the hills overlooking Gore in Eastern Southland. Most of our land is steep and can be exposed to extremes of weather, particularly wind (I’m sure some days it blows straight off the Antarctic). Our highlands thrive in these conditions with no need for intensive farming practice or expensive grain supplements. The resulting beef animal has been allowed to grow and mature naturally providing an ideal beef carcass.
